A two-minute read for a quick mental reset.

I prefer words. There is somehow more clarity in words, More direction.

Words can lift me up, burn through the fog of my mind, and reveal a lucidity within.

I prefer words to rally something within me that has been sleeping, awaken the vigor of the intellect, and remind me of the elegant complexity of life.

As I write, I feel myself waking up, something clarifying, rising from its slumber, opening its chest, popping its back, and taking a gratifying yawn.

Before writing this, I was scrolling on Instagram. Don’t get me wrong, I love pictures and visual media but after a while… It just all seems to blend together.

I love the way words make my mind feel. I love feeling the faculty of reason and the ability to slice through the heart of my brain and entrain it into a state of concentration. Reading can often feel like a type of meditative absorption for me, holding my attention tenderly while walking me up a steep mountain route to a pristine view as a hawk flies by just as I turn my head. The mountain breeze stirs the trees as far as the eyes can see, and the universe is breathing.

I feel better after connecting to words. It awakens in me a type of raw awareness, a certain directionality, the teleological game of life.

I am here.

My mind works.

I input positive information.

I think.

I create.

The world moves forward.

We become more aware of the preciousness of every single moment. And then, once the words have done their work, there is a purifying effect, and the mind becomes a bit quieter.

See.

Now, that feels better.
